Leaving for Munich, Germany Tomorrow. Need Assistance! Turns out my hotel is located in Aschheim?
RICKY asked:
I booked my hotel online. Turns our that It looks like it is on the East side of Munich,Germany. I will be there for one week. How far from the Munich Airport? What sort of Neighborhood is this place located (Bahnhofstrasse 4). Internet map shows it as being in Aschheim, Bayern, but the message box says “can not locate Bahnhofstrasse 4″. The map shows the location as “Aschheim”, but not the airport. Looks like it may be “out of the way”. My flight leaves at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow. Thanks you in advance for any assistance you can offer. I am leaving from the Midwest in the USA.

The Munich airport is actually quite a ways outside of Munich. It’s closer to a town called Freising. Aschheim, Bayern is, as you said, a suburb of Munich. Munich is extensively connected by U-bahn (subway) and S-bahn (schnellbahn, or fast train which is sort of like a commuter train). There is a place in the zentralbereich (central area) of the airport where you can get on one of these trains. You may be able to ride the train directly to where you are headed in Aschheim, but more than likely you will need to take the train to a more central stop (Theresienwiese, Marienplatz, Laim etc) and connect on another train. Whatever the case, have no fear, Munich is safe, well connected via public transport, and most all of the signs are also in English. If you have trouble, don’t be afraid to stop and ask someone, most all Germans speak some English and will be willing to speak it with you.
