What area of Chicago to stay?
jjjjj asked:
I am planning a trip and staying in Chicago a couple of days. I’m trying to get an idea of what neighborhood to book my hotel in. I don’t really care about tourist type things, rather just be in a good spot for bars, music, art, roaming streets, neighborhood type feel, lots of Chicagoians not tourists. Any help on details of Northside and Southside would help, heard Wrigley is a good area for these things but only from whatever comes up on internet search.
Thanks!

There’s a Best Western right in Wrigleyville, three blocks east of the Park called Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. Or a Days Inn on Diversey, a few miles south of Wrigley Field.
You’ll find the most number of bars and restaurants in Lakeview (now known as Wrigleyville) and Lincoln Park. You can peruse some of the places by going down the list in the link.
northside( you wont get shot) trust me.
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it’s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online… otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
Out of the Ballpark is a great resource for everything in the Wrigley Field area. It lists, bars, restaurants, hotels, etc.
I go to Chicago every other month or so and ALWAYS use Priceline for the hotel…bidding for the “Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area” and scoring 4*s for just under $60.
Really nice area and great hotels in that zone…food for thought.
